Original enamel plate 'Ferrovia Italiano'

A traditional and heavy enamel sign that was used to indicate the train destinations, in this case Verona-Vicenza-Venezia and vice versa. The sign was attached to the side of the train and flipped and turned accordingly.

Six evenly big holes to easily hang it up and two large handles.
The lettering is manually painted on the yelllow base colour.

23 prints Henry deGroux 'Le visage de la victoire'

23 prints of the long forgotten symbolist and Belgian painter and sculptor Henry de Groux. He was active from late 19th to early 20th century.

Here he used the new medium of photography to give us an insight of the horror during World War I. All etchings have been made between 1915 and 1918 and were later assigned as 'le visage de la victoire' or the face of victory.

For two of the prints Japanese paper has been used. Apart from etching, another procedure has been used, crayonmanier.
Some of the prints have been framed, pictures of those can be found on another page.

All prints are signed in red pencil and have a serial number.

Tobacco jar - Bergen Ceramic

We are all familiar with this decor on vases and pots. Antoine Dubois was the executer, 'céramique montoise' his factory.
Unfortunately, the lid of the pot is not original. Supposedly it broke over the years. The alternative, an ebonized wooden lid actually fits perfectly.

Messing candleholder

This huge and heavy four-armed candlestick holder has followed me throughout the years, ever since university, when I bought it.

It took me forever to get it clean and in this state.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find much relevant information about it. There are obviously 2 engraved lions depicted and overlooked by an Habsburg eagle. Both sides of it are incredibly detailed, his front image carries two swords.

Every part of this peculiar piece can be unscrewed easily and all together it are 18 pieces.
